Last but not
least is a role that is very new to the J1 cultural Exchange program –
Custodial! If you’re unsure what
Custodial means, it is basically a cleaner.
You can be put almost anywhere within the Walt Disney World Resort and
it can involve a huge variety of duties.
Let’s be
realistic here – this isn’t going to be the most glamorous job at Disney
World. You will have to deal with
cleaning toilets, bathrooms, restaurants and empting rubbish bins. You will come in contact with cleaning
chemicals and the work will be fairly physical.
There will no doubt be the cleaning up of some bodily fluids involved
too, so if this is something you don’t think you can handle then you might want
to give it a miss.
On the other
hand, if cleaning is something you’re happy to do, there are some definite
plusses to this role. The guest
interaction in Custodial is very high, meaning you will get to talk to and help
heaps of guests every day. There is
generally a lot of freedom in Custodial once you have earned your ears, and as
long as you get all your work done on time, you can operate at your own
pace. Also, you may get to learn how to
make awesome water art like THIS.
Here’s the
official role description:

- Working with cleaning chemicals and equipment

That’s all I can really tell you about this role at the
moment. Once I’m on my program I will
try to find out more information and update this page accordingly.
