This role is
pretty self-explanatory, especially if you've been a lifeguard before. There is a big demand for Lifeguards at WDW,
both at the two water parks and the 26 Disney Resort Hotel’s multiple swimming
pools. If you’ve worked as a lifeguard
or swimming instructor in the past or you’re a strong and confident swimmer,
then this role just might be perfect for you.
The important thing to note is that to do this role, you must
successfully pass a swim test (see details below).
I have heard
some reports that lifeguarding at Disney is a little bit different to
Australia, but I’m not exactly sure what that means. I will try to find out more in the future.
Disney’s
official description of this role is as follows:
Lifeguard
- Monitoring Guest's safety in water and on slide/attractions
- Physically challenging work and prolonged exposure to outside elements
- Providing first aid and basic life support in the event of Guest injury or illness
- Strong swimming skills
- During off-peak seasons, assisting other operating areas throughout the Walt Disney World® Resort, including performing roles other than lifeguarding
- NOTE: Each individual must be evaluated and certified at the Walt Disney World Resort. All lifeguards must pass a swim test and a vision screening. In the event you do not pass the swim test described below, you may be placed in another role based on availability.
- Swim 200 yards (183 meters) freestyle or breaststroke
- Retrieve a 10-lb (4.5 kg) brick from the deepest section of the pool
- Tread water with hands out of the water for two minutes
That’s all I can really tell you about this role at the moment. Once I’m on my program I will try to find out more information and update this page accordingly.
